Other Places You’ll Find Me

Dancing and movement are something that fills me with joy and I love sharing that with others.  I teach a preschool aged creative movement class, incorporating dance and mindfulness based activities.  I also teach a weekly dance fitness class for adults.  At home with my children, there is always music playing and impromptu dance parties while we prepare meals together or clean up after a busy day.

When I’m not at the dance studio or one of the sports fields with my kids, we love exploring all Maine has to offer from the lakes to the hiking trails, but the ocean has my heart and is where I head to feel grounded and recharged.

Courtney is such an incredible teacher, guide, and sounding board – far more than just a nutrition guru.  Her advice and insight really helped pull me out of a rough patch, deeper than I had let on with anyone at the time.

Meet Courtney McHenry, Registered Dietitian at New Roots

As a Registered Dietitian and mom of three children, I am committed to not only helping individuals heal and strengthen their relationship with food, movement, and their bodies, but also in supporting parents in promoting a positive body image in their children and raising balanced, confident eaters.

I work with clients with a variety of nutrition and health concerns. I specialize in working with families supporting a child, athletes and individuals of all ages and genders with past or current struggles with disordered eating behaviors, eating disorders, compulsive exercise, and those looking to heal and improve their relationship with food, body, and movement.

What I Do

I believe that the key to achieving balance in nutrition, health, and life is tuning in to your own inner wisdom. You are the expert of your own body, and my goal is to support you in learning how to listen, trust, accept, and respect your body and your needs, and find joy and safety in food and movement.

I use a personalized, non-diet approach based on ideas from Intuitive Eating, Motivational Interviewing, Division of Responsibility, and meditation and mindfulness techniques, to support and guide you in learning how to listen and trust yourself and your body so that you can reach your own individual goals for you and your family. My goal is to support you in feeling empowered and confident about your nutrition, your body, and your health.

I honor and value the client provider relationship in the outpatient setting and prioritize providing individualized care for every person that I work with. I, along with the whole New Roots team, am LGBTQIA+ and neurodiversity affirming.
