My Experience
My experience in the field of eating disorders began in 2013 as a graduate school intern with the New England Eating Disorders Program. In 2016, I transitioned to a full-time eating disorder therapist and have since gained comprehensive experience across various levels of care, including Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and outpatient settings. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with both adolescent and adult patients, providing individual, family, and group therapy. This diverse clinical background has equipped me with a well-rounded skill set to address the unique needs of individuals navigating the challenges of eating disorders.
Meet Lindsay Susi, Therapist at
New Roots
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience supporting adolescents, adults, and families in navigating the complexities of living with an eating disorder. I am deeply committed to an anti-diet approach and the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES). I believe everyone, regardless of body type, deserves respect, healing, and support in recovery. My work focuses on promoting food neutrality and challenging the harmful thought patterns that can keep individuals feeling stuck, while guiding them toward building a healthier, more compassionate relationship with food and their bodies.
What I Do
I specialize in the treatment of eating disorders, employing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as the primary therapeutic modality, complemented by other evidence-based approaches including mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and interpersonal therapy. My practice is centered on supporting the individual and their family/supports, utilizing solution-focused strategies to address disordered eating patterns, behavioral and motivational challenges, communication difficulties, and interpersonal relationship issues.
I am guided by the belief that individuals are doing the best they can with the resources and information available to them, which shapes my commitment to providing comprehensive education on eating disorders in a supportive therapeutic environment. I work collaboratively with clients to facilitate meaningful change, fostering self-awareness and empowerment. My approach emphasizes compassion, safety, and clear boundaries, allowing individuals to move beyond disordered eating patterns with confidence. I am committed to providing inclusive support for individuals of all genders in their journey toward recovery.
