Meet Tonya Spaulding, Registered Dietitian at New Roots

I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, whose practice is guided by the empirical principles of “Health At Every Size” (HAES). I believe that respecting all persons in all bodies is the weight-inclusive, compassionate, self-care approach to wellness that achieves the most affirmative outcomes.

My guiding theory for practice is my passion for whole-patient, client centered care that empowers each individual to achieve their best version of themselves.

What I Do

I specialize in supporting clients with diagnosed eating disorders, as well as those experiencing disordered eating or exercise behaviors, focusing on fostering a healthier relationship with food and their bodies. I enjoy working with other medical conditions including digestive health issues and substance use disorder recovery.

I provide nutrition counseling for individuals looking to discover, explore, and challenge their current eating and movement patterns to heal from chronic dieting and negative body image concerns.

My style blends counseling, education, and coaching to help clients gain insight, tools, and experiences in cultivating a healthy relationship with food, exercise, and their body. I incorporate Intuitive Eating principles, Motivational Interviewing techniques, and the Health at Every Size framework into my clinical practice. I assist individuals in achieving diversity in their dietary intakes, flexibility in food choices, and neutrality with body and movement. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming and respects neurodiversity.

Let’s work together to free you from the emotional, mental and physical tolls of diet culture and food rules!
